This year, WIkimania took place in Nairobi, Kenya. Luckily, it was prepared as a hybrid conference so I participated remotely.
Overview
As usual, I used the learning pattern Documenting your event experience, continuously documenting what I was doing, watching and participating in, along with notes of thoughts that I got. In total, I partook in 32 sessions and was listed as speaker of another one myself during the conference. I have later watched another 16 sessions, so I feel that I experienced a lot of the conference. I will delve deeper into the different aspects of my Wikimania experience below.
Podcast
I managed to get hold of some of the organizers and recorded a pre-conference interview. Per Wikipediapodden tradition, we did record one episode leading up to Wikimania and one episode summarizing it. These two are, as usual, only available in Swedish.
My sessions
Unlocking Government Data for Wikidata: Stories, Impacts, and Open Dialogue
I was supposed to be in this session and talk about Govdirectory, but due to technical problems I was never let into the call, despite being in the lobby well before it started.
Climate Policies in Wikidata
Last year, I had a similarly named poster, but just focused on Sweden. This year I made it wider and explored climate policies around the world on a poster.

The impact of WikiProject Govdirectory
Rather than trying to get people to join, this year I made a poster visualizing what impact the project has had.

Wikimedians for Sustainable Development
While the user group Wikimedians for Sustainable Development didn’t have any particular sessions by themselves, many members were organizing sessions and even more people in the community had sessions related to the sustainable development goals. They were so many that I just to get an overview for myself, I created a subpage where I roughly categorized them by SDG goal and type of session.
